On November 21, 2025, the CIRED China National Committee Working Meeting and the CIRED 2025 Thematic Report Meeting were successfully held in Shanghai.

On the morning of November 21, the CIRED China National Committee Working Meeting was held. Academician Chen Weijiang, Chairman of the National Committee, presided over the meeting. Vice Chairpersons Chen Mei and Yang Qingxin, Academician Wang Chengshan, Director of the Technical Committee, as well as members and representatives of the National Committee Council and Technical Committee attended the meeting.

The meeting approved the candidates recommended by the National Committee for positions on the CIRED Council, reviewed the composition plans of the six professional committees under the National Committee, and discussed the key work of the National Committee and the preparation plan for the 12th China International Conference on Electricity Distribution (CICED 2026). During the meeting, participants conducted in-depth exchanges on key topics such as the construction of professional committees, international cooperation, and talent cultivation.

In his speech, Chairman Chen Weijiang emphasized that the China National Committee should take an active and pioneering role, always maintain a national perspective, represent the overall level of China’s power distribution sector, and actively lead the formulation of international standards and the development of CIRED-related rules, continuously enhancing China’s voice in international organizations.

Academician Wang Chengshan pointed out that the composition of professional committees should emphasize professional coverage, systematicness, and foresight, balance technological inheritance and organizational vitality, and clarify basic requirements such as their responsibilities, organizational structure, and expert participation conditions to promote the standardized and high-level development of the committees.

Vice Chairperson Yang Qingxin proposed to continuously improve the construction of the National Committee and its professional committees, and to actively attract international students through international organization platforms, thereby cultivating cross-cultural and international professionals for China and the global distribution sector.

Vice Chairperson Chen Mei emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in regional international conferences, strengthen technical exchanges and thematic discussions with key “Belt and Road” countries in the distribution field, and build a high-level academic exchange brand with professional leadership and international appeal.

On the afternoon of November 21, the 2025 CIRED Thematic Report Meeting was held, featuring presentations on the achievements of the 28th International Conference on Electricity Distribution (CIRED 2025).

Vice Chairperson Chen Mei and Diao Guanxun, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Pudong Power Supply Company of State Grid Shanghai Electric Power and a member of the National Committee Council, delivered speeches at the meeting.

In her speech, Chen Mei extended warm congratulations on the successful convening of the meeting. She emphasized that the event aimed to share the latest technological progress and engineering practices in the distribution field with engineers and technicians, and encouraged experts to engage in in-depth exchanges to contribute to the advancement of power supply technologies.

The thematic meeting was hosted by Zhao Jianjun, Secretary-General of the National Committee. Focusing on the latest achievements of CIRED 2025, six experts were invited to deliver reports: Professor Li Tianyou from Xiamen University of Technology, Professor Xiao Xianyong from Sichuan University, Weng Jiaming from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Xu Bingyin from Shandong University of Technology, Associate Professor Zhao Tianyang from Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Su Jun from Xiamen University of Technology.

The successful convening of this working meeting and thematic report meeting further clarified the work direction of the National Committee for the current and future periods. In 2026, the National Committee will focus on organizational development, international cooperation, and academic exchanges. It will solidly promote the establishment of its professional committees, actively support Chinese experts in participating in CIRED working groups for international joint research, carefully organize the 2026 China International Conference on Electricity Distribution, participate in CIRED 2026 technical workshops, and plan for participation in the 29th International Conference on Electricity Distribution, thereby promoting the international exchange and showcasing of China’s new achievements and experiences in the distribution field.
