Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 9th – On September 9th, Vice President Han Zheng attended the 2025 Global Energy Interconnection Conference in Beijing and delivered a speech.
Han Zheng stated that in September 2015, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the UN Development Summit, proposing the construction of a Global Energy Interconnection to meet global electricity demand in a clean and green way. This initiative has provided a Chinese solution for global energy transition and sustainable development. Over the past decade, it has gained high recognition and positive responses from the international community.
Han Zheng pointed out that currently, the global energy system is undergoing profound changes, with the accelerated low-carbon transformation of the energy structure. China has always been a firm actor and important contributor to global green development. Facing new changes and trends, President Xi Jinping proposed the new energy security strategy of "four revolutions and one cooperation," which has pointed out the direction for China's energy development in the new era and opened up a new path of energy development with Chinese characteristics.
Han Zheng put forward four proposals. First, jointly promote the green and low-carbon transition of energy. Deepen cooperation in renewable energy power generation, power grid interconnection, smart energy and other fields, and promote the effective implementation of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement.
Second, jointly advance energy technological innovation. Conduct joint R&D on clean energy utilization technologies, and promote the in-depth integration of energy and power technologies with modern information, new materials, advanced manufacturing and other fields.
Third, jointly pursue sustainable energy development. Strengthen cooperation on energy accessibility and help developing countries improve their energy security capacity and level.
Fourth, jointly promote cooperation in energy resources and production capacity. Promote the interconnection of transnational and cross-regional energy infrastructure to achieve complementary advantages and win-win results.
Hosted by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, this is the 7th Global Energy Interconnection Conference. Nearly 1,000 guests from more than 100 countries and international organizations including the United Nations attended the event.
Before the opening of the conference, Han Zheng visited the achievement exhibition booths and interacted with representatives of participating organizations and enterprises.
