In the first half of this year, the world's largest clean energy corridor, composed of six hydropower stations—Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges, and Gezhouba—operated with precision. This major national infrastructure has fully demonstrated its comprehensive benefits, delivering an impressive "mid-term report."
In the first half of this year, the world's largest clean energy corridor, consisting of six power stations - Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges, and Gezhouba - operated with precision. The comprehensive benefits of this major national infrastructure have been fully exerted, presenting an impressive "mid-term report".

Assisting Agriculture: Going All Out for Drought Relief and Water Supplement
In the first half of the year, rainfall and water inflow in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River were insufficient. Faced with the tight situation of agricultural irrigation and water supply in the middle and lower reaches, the six cascade reservoirs on the main stream of the Yangtze River promptly played their role as freshwater resource reservoirs and continuously increased water supplement efforts. During this dry season, the cascade reservoirs supplied a total of 25.186 billion cubic meters of water to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, equivalent to the water volume of more than 200 East Lakes in Wuhan. The Three Gorges Reservoir carried out three special water dispatch operations to ensure irrigation, providing a solid guarantee for meeting the irrigation water needs of the coastal areas in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Facilitating Waterways: Improving Navigation Efficiency
To fully ensure the safety and smooth flow of the Yangtze River's golden waterway, the cascade power stations actively cooperated with the shipping department in navigation dispatch, steadily raised the water depth of the Yangtze River waterway, and effectively improved navigation conditions. Since the Xiangjiaba ship lift has been operating 24 hours a day, the daily number of operating compartments and passing ships has been rising. In the first half of the year, 1,870 ships passed through, with a cargo volume of 851,000 tons, completing 76.02% of the annual target, which provides strong support for the economic development of the Jinsha River basin. The cargo throughput of the Three Gorges hub reached 83.077 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%, continuing to help the Yangtze River golden waterway exert its "golden benefits".

Stabilizing Power Supply: Ensuring Energy Security
Through precise dispatch, lean operation, and careful maintenance, the comprehensive water consumption rate of the cascade power stations hit a new low in the same period in history, effectively exerting the water head benefit of the cascade reservoirs. In the first half of the year, the cascade power stations generated a total of 126.66 billion kWh of electricity, an increase of 6 billion kWh year-on-year, setting a new high in the same period in history, which is equivalent to saving 3.82 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 10 million tons. They successfully completed multiple rounds of power supply guarantee tasks during the Spring Festival, the National Two Sessions, and the summer peak period. The daily power generation of the cascade power stations exceeded 1 billion kWh for 21 consecutive days, with the maximum output exceeding 59 million kW, both  (breaking) historical records in the same period, and the maximum daily power generation reached 1.197 billion kWh.

Protecting Ecology: Promoting Green Development
The cascade power stations carried out 15 ecological dispatch tests in 4 categories in an orderly manner, including layered water intake with stoplogs, facilitating the spawning of fish producing adhesive and sinking eggs, facilitating the spawning of fish producing drifting eggs, and sediment reduction at the tail of the Three Gorges Reservoir. These tests continued to exert the ecological benefits of the reservoirs, creating favorable conditions for improving the ecological environment of the basin and promoting fish spawning. During the implementation of the ecological dispatch tests, relevant units conducted hydrological, aquatic ecological, and other related monitoring at monitoring sections such as the Yidu, Shashi, and Jianli river segments. The monitoring data showed that the ecological dispatch tests achieved good results.
