August 15, 2025 marks the third National Ecology Day, with the theme "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets".

Guangdong Energy Group earnestly implements Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, actively practices the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", persists in creating green energy with dedication, and integrates the green and low-carbon transformation of energy into the blood of its development. It injects green impetus into boosting economic and social development and safeguarding the ecological environment.

As of the end of July 2025, the total installed capacity of Guangdong Energy Group has exceeded 62 million kilowatts, with the installed capacity of clean energy accounting for approximately 59%—an increase of 27.6 percentage points compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Solid strides have been made in the green and low-carbon transformation.

Adhering to the complete, accurate, and comprehensive implementation of the new development philosophy, and guided by the national energy strategy, Guangdong Energy Group focuses on the main track of new energy development, making green the most distinctive feature of high-quality development.

Guangdong Energy Group remains deeply engaged in the energy industry, fully expanding new energy projects in resource-endowed regions, and advancing green and low-carbon transformation. It has deeply cultivated the offshore wind power market in Guangdong. The group’s first batch of offshore wind power projects with a total capacity of 2.2 million kilowatts—including those in the offshore shallow water areas of Zhuhai Jinwan, Yangjiang Shapa, Zhanjiang Xinliao, and Zhanjiang Wailuo, as well as the deep-water area of Yangjiang Qingzhou—have all been completed and put into operation.

The group is also promoting the large-scale development of photovoltaic (PV) and onshore wind power. Based in Guangdong, it has continuously achieved breakthroughs in the development of new energy projects in multiple provinces such as Xinjiang, Shandong, Gansu, and Hainan. Currently, the group’s projects are distributed across 22 provinces nationwide, with its total installed capacity ranking first among provincial-level energy enterprises in China. The green electricity meticulously generated by Guangdong Energy Group is continuously flowing into the veins of the nation’s development, turning every kilowatt-hour of green power into a surging driving force for boosting social development and safeguarding the ecology.

Centering on the "dual carbon" strategy and focusing on its core energy business, Guangdong Energy Group actively advances ecological priority, economical and intensive, and green and low-carbon development. It vigorously promotes the coordinated improvement of carbon reduction, pollution control, and green expansion, adding luster to ecological protection.

The group has deeply integrated green operations into its development. As early as 2020, it fully realized ultra-low emission operations for coal-fired units. In 2022, it completed the upgrade and transformation of 16 in-operation coal-fired power plants within the system to achieve zero wastewater discharge. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it has completed flow passage transformation for 8 coal-fired power units with a capacity of 600 megawatts or above, and flexibility transformation for 14 units, effectively improving the clean and efficient utilization level of coal-fired power units. The group has also vigorously implemented pollutant control in coal-fired power plants, with the environmental emission indicators of coal-fired power units remaining at the advanced level in China’s power industry.

The group explores the realization of ecological product value. It actively explores ways to unlock the value of ecological products, converting the value of ecological products embodied in lucid waters and lush mountains into tangible economic benefits. In 2024, Guangdong Energy Group won the nation’s first mangrove carbon sink development right with a bid of over 4 million yuan. The mangroves involved in the transaction are expected to sequester approximately 43,600 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent within a ten-year period, effectively promoting a positive cycle between economic development and ecological protection.

Guangdong Energy Group adheres to the path of ecological priority and green development, integrating the development of clean energy with the protection of marine ecology. It ensures that a sound ecological environment becomes a strong support for sustainable development, and promotes the coordination between development, resources, and the environment.

To protect the marine ecological environment, the group has actively carried out stock enhancement activities. In the waters under its jurisdiction, such as the Yangjiang Qingzhou Offshore Wind Farm and the Zhanjiang Xuwen Wailuo Offshore Wind Farm, it has released a total of over 130 million fish and shrimp fry, including black porgy, yellowfin porgy, blue-spotted grouper, and giant tiger prawn. These efforts have injected new vitality into the sustainable development of the marine ecosystem. Through the approach of "enhancement promoting aquaculture", stock enhancement effectively supplements fishery resources, improves the aquatic ecological environment, and drives the mutual promotion of marine protection and ecological economy.

In the next step, Guangdong Energy Group will adhere to the orientation of ecological priority and green development, accelerate the advancement of green and low-carbon transformation, and continuously strengthen ecological civilization construction and ecological environmental protection. It will make due contributions as a provincial-level energy enterprise to advancing the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development and striving to build a modern socialist China where humanity and nature coexist in harmony.
