From ensuring stable energy supply to improving supply quality, from realizing efficient development and utilization of fossil energy to prioritizing the development of non-fossil energy, China Huadian has established a clear orientation of ecological priority and green development. Grasping the trend of energy transformation, it has accelerated its green transition. Its installed power generation capacity has grown from 25 million kilowatts in 2002 to over 250 million kilowatts by the end of June this year, and the proportion of clean energy installed capacity has risen from 17% at its founding to 57.5%, making the color of ecological development more vivid and bright.

Strategic Renewal: Sustained Improvement in Energy Self-Sufficiency Guarantee

As the "ballast stone" for power security, coal-fired power has long played a role in providing bottom-line support and peak shaving. China Huadian, leveraging the characteristics of coal-fired power as a basic guarantee and system regulator, is promoting its transformation towards cleanliness, high efficiency, and flexibility. It has steadily advanced the "triple-reform linkage" and low-carbon transformation of coal-fired power units, actively applied new energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies, equipment, and processes, and completed energy-saving and carbon-reduction transformation, flexibility transformation, and heating transformation for 167 unit-times.
Hydropower, as a clean energy source with large scale benefits, high development value, and the most mature technology, is an important part of building a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system. Adhering to the concept of "ecological priority and green development", China Huadian has continued to develop hydropower. On the snow-covered plateau, the DG Hydropower Station – Tibet's largest hydropower project for domestic demand – achieved four units put into operation within one year. In Zhouning, Fujian, the full-capacity commissioning of Huadian Fujian Zhouning Pumped Storage Power Station marked China Huadian's "zero breakthrough" in the pumped storage field... Meanwhile, relying on the flexible regulation capacity of hydropower, it has promoted the integrated development of hydropower, wind power, and photovoltaic power. On July 11, the Jinshang Batang Hydropower Station was fully completed and put into operation, adding another hydropower pearl to the national hydropower-wind-photovoltaic integrated demonstration base in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River.

Structural Renewal: Significant Enhancement in Energy Supply Capacity

In Tianjin, the Haijing 1000MW "Salt-Solar Complementary" Project – the world's largest single-unit project of its kind – has achieved full-capacity grid connection. Under the premise of ensuring "no change in land nature, no reduction in salt field benefits, and no damage to the ecological environment", the project has built an eco-friendly system integrating "green energy + characteristic salt industry", realizing the integrated comprehensive utilization of "salt, solar energy, and fishery".
In Xinjiang, the Xinjiang Tianshan North 麓 Gobi Energy Base – China's first "desert, gobi, and barren land" large-scale base external transmission channel project – is under vigorous construction. The project is scheduled to be fully completed and put into operation in September this year. By then, 36 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity will be transmitted directly to Sichuan and Chongqing via the Hami-Chongqing ±800kV UHVDC transmission line every year.
In Shandong, a mining area that had fallen silent due to the shutdown of the Shuntian Coal Mine is regaining vitality with a new look thanks to the implementation of the Huadian Zichuan Dakui Mountain Multi-Energy Complementary Demonstration Project. This project has even become a benchmark for "mine-land integration" nationwide.
In the birthplace of the "Two Mountains" concept, Fujian Huadian Jinhu Power Co., Ltd. has secured the 120MW fishery-solar complementary centralized photovoltaic project in Dongshan County, Zhangzhou, Fujian through cross-regional efforts, and completed the project signing and filing in June this year.
Taking the development of renewable energy as the main direction to fight the battle of structural adjustment, China Huadian has accelerated the base-based and clustered development and construction of projects such as the northwest desert-gobi-barren land bases, southwest hydropower-wind-photovoltaic bases, coastal offshore wind power bases, central and eastern centralized and distributed bases, and northeast "new energy +" bases. It has built a "3+N" spatial layout for wind and photovoltaic power, realizing the transformation of new energy from "quantitative" growth to simultaneous "qualitative and quantitative" growth.

Wisdom-Driven Renewal: Continuous Strengthening of Independent Innovation in Energy Technology

Currently, technological innovation has become a key factor driving the development of productive forces, and new-quality productive forces have become an important variable affecting industrial structure upgrading and economic kinetic energy conversion.
China Huadian has multiple national-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, such as for thermal power generation testing and distributed energy technology. It has taken the lead in China to build a full-spectrum of Huadian "Rui" series industrial control products covering coal-fired power, gas turbines, hydropower, wind power, and power grids, effectively addressing "bottleneck" issues such as the "supply interruption" risk and security "vulnerabilities" in power industrial control systems.
Meanwhile, focusing on the development of new energy, China Huadian has actively expanded emerging businesses such as hydrogen energy, new energy storage, integrated energy, and virtual power plants, and accelerated the increase in the proportion of revenue and added value from strategic emerging industries. It has built the Huadian Inner Mongolia Baotou 200MW New Energy Hydrogen Production Project – one of China's first large-scale renewable energy-based green hydrogen demonstration projects – which has opened up the entire industrial chain of "hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization" for hydrogen energy projects and filled the gap in the application of green hydrogen in the transportation system. The commissioning of the Huadian Qinghai Delingha 1000MW Solar-Hydrogen-Storage Project is China's first attempt at green hydrogen production in high-altitude areas. Through the technical route and system of solar-hydrogen-storage integration, it has promoted the extension of the hydrogen energy industrial chain and the improvement of the value chain, realizing the consumption of green electricity and green hydrogen.
