On October 7 (local time), the World Energy Council's World Energy Week kicked off grandly in Panama City, Panama Republic. Yang Kun, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council (CEEC), was invited to attend the event. The CEEC delegation gave a final presentation at the finals. Every year, CEEC conducts extensive research and studies. In recent years, in particular, entrusted by national ministries and commissions, it has taken the lead in researching the "15th Five-Year Plan" for power development, participated in the planning and construction of a national unified power market and carbon market, promoted the flexibility transformation of hundreds of millions of kilowatts of coal-fired power units to support large-scale new energy integration, and proposed power carbon footprint emission factors suitable for China's national conditions. These efforts have provided strong support for advancing the high-quality development of the industry.
In terms of international cooperation, CEEC has jointly initiated IEC fast charging standards with partners from other countries, collaborated with countries such as Senegal to provide talent support for new energy development in Africa, hosted the China Pavilion Power Theme Side Event at the UN Climate Change Conference for consecutive years, successfully organized the 24th ASEAN Power Association Conference, and arranged for Chinese enterprises to participate in international events such as the World Energy Congress. It has also built China-ASEAN and China-Africa energy and power exchange platforms to support Chinese enterprises in "going global".
Additionally, CEEC organizes large-scale professional exchange activities, provides high-quality special services, and sets up a full-industry-chain exhibition platform every year to support member units in engaging in energy transition. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, wind power and photovoltaic products exported by China helped other countries reduce carbon emissions by approximately 4.1 billion tons cumulatively.
The award jury fully affirmed CEEC's outstanding contributions in leading the industry to promote energy transition in China and globally, and highly praised China's remarkable achievements in energy transition. On this basis, it unanimously decided to award CEEC the World Energy Council's Centennial Legacy Award through on-site voting.

During the event, Yang Kun met with Michael Liebreich, former President of the World Energy Council, and held talks with Adnan Amin, the new President, and Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer of the World Energy Council. In addition, Yang Kun held discussions with chairpersons of various regional committees and national committees of the World Energy Council, the director of the Future Energy Leaders Working Committee, and a delegation from the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the host country of the next World Energy Congress.

Entrusted by the World Energy Council, CEEC will serve as an official partner of the next World Energy Congress and organize Chinese enterprises to participate in the exhibition. The 2026 World Energy Congress is scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October 26 to 28, 2026.
The World Energy Council's Centennial Legacy Award is one of the four World Energy Community Awards established by the World Energy Council, along with the "Strategic Partnership Award", "Impact Enhancement Award", and "Convergence of Common Interests Award". It aims to identify and recognize outstanding initiatives that promote global energy transition, set examples, and drive positive changes. CEEC is the first Chinese partner of the World Energy Council to receive this award.
