From May 12 to 13, the China Electricity Council (CEC) held thematic seminars in Guiyang of Guizhou Province and Changsha of Hunan Province, focusing on capacity expansion of conventional hydropower and integrated development of hydropower, wind and photovoltaic (PV) power. Jiang Yufeng, Member of the Party Leadership Group of CEC, attended the seminars to offer guidance and delivered speeches. Long Zhi’an, Deputy Party Secretary, Vice Chairman and General Manager of Guizhou Wujiang Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., and Tan Wensheng, Chief Expert of State Power Investment Corporation and Deputy Director of Wuling Power Corporation, attended the on-site seminars in Guizhou and Hunan respectively.
At the seminars, Wujiang Hydropower and Wuling Power systematically reviewed their corporate development journeys and the construction of river basin integrated hydropower-wind-PV bases. They shared practical experience and achievements in hydropower capacity expansion, analyzed major challenges in further advancing hydropower expansion and maximizing the value of integrated hydropower-wind-PV bases, and put forward targeted proposals. Representatives from Guizhou Qianyuan Power Co., Ltd., Guizhou Power Grid Co., Ltd., State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. and its affiliated hydropower branch delivered keynote exchanges. Power enterprise delegates and industry experts present held in-depth discussions covering the implementation of conventional hydropower expansion projects, improvement of supporting market and pricing mechanisms, as well as intensive development and efficient operation of integrated hydropower-wind-PV complexes.
Centering on the requirements for building new power systems during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Jiang Yufeng elaborated on the strategic value and practical significance of scaling up conventional hydropower capacity and advancing integrated hydropower, wind and PV development. He noted that CEC will conduct in-depth research on core concerns raised by enterprises based on seminar feedback, and formulate operable policy proposals. As an industry association, CEC will fully leverage its role as a bridge linking enterprises and authorities, actively submit policy recommendations, accurately reflect corporate demands, and vigorously foster a sound policy and market environment for high-quality development of the hydropower sector.
Staff representatives from the Electric Power Development Research Institute of CEC, Guangxi Guiguan Electric Power Co., Ltd., SPIC Hydropower Co., Ltd., China Three Gorges Corporation and Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. participated in the seminars and exchanges.
