Focusing on cutting-edge technological trends and contributing wisdom to global development... From June 24 to 26, the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions ("Summer Davos Forum") of the World Economic Forum was held in Tianjin, gathering over 1,700 guests from more than 90 countries and regions. At the forum, discussions on new energy transition, new industrial upgrading, and new technological revolution were particularly heated.

Accelerated Transition to New Energy

The venue of the Summer Davos Forum at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin) was brightly lit. Echoing one of the main themes of the forum, "New Energy and Materials", this year's forum achieved full green electricity supply.

At the forum site, guests had in-depth exchanges and brainstormed on topics such as "What is the current state of energy transition?", "New Energy + Desert Control", "Industrial clusters promoting energy transformation and upgrading", and "Forward-looking scan: China's role in global energy transition".

"Ten years ago, the photovoltaic conversion efficiency was only about 15%, now it is 25%, and I believe it is expected to reach 35% in another ten years." Li Zhenguo, founder of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd., said at the sub-forum "What is the current state of energy transition?".

A recent report released by the World Economic Forum shows that after years of slow progress, the global energy system is accelerating its transition in terms of security, equity, and environmental sustainability.

Data from the International Renewable Energy Agency shows that the average cost per kilowatt-hour of global wind and photovoltaic power generation projects has dropped significantly in recent years, largely due to China's contribution.

Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum, highly praised China's remarkable achievements in green development. "This year, we expect China's new energy vehicle production to grow by more than 40% year-on-year," Brende said, adding that there is no doubt that China's energy transition is at the forefront of the world.

"National energy systems are evolving at different speeds," said Ming Yang, Head of the Energy and Materials Center at the World Economic Forum. Rapidly developing emerging economies urgently need to increase investment to maintain the momentum of energy transition.

Recently, the 2025 edition of the World Energy Investment Report released by the International Energy Agency pointed out that global venture capital in the energy sector has continued to shrink in the past two years. Global energy innovation enterprises are striving to adapt to the challenges of rising financing costs and policy uncertainty.

Zhang Tianyu, Deputy Director of the New Power System Research Center at the Economic and Technological Research Institute of State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Company, said that efforts are being made to solve existing problems through high-precision forecasting of new energy power generation, flexible balance of power supply and demand, and customized user demand response.

New Industries Upgrade "Towards Intelligence"

Artificial intelligence is undoubtedly one of the most concerned buzzwords at this year's forum. Sorting out the forum agenda, there are numerous topics related to artificial intelligence such as "AI+ Era" and "Generative AI Accelerating Clinical Research and Development", highlighting the new trend of global industrial upgrading.

"The global changes are reshaping industries and value chains," said Mirek Dušek, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum.

Schneider Electric has been deeply rooted in China for 38 years. China is its second largest market in the world, as well as an important supply chain and R&D base. Yin Zheng, Executive Vice President of Schneider Electric and President of China and East Asia, said that through digital technology and lean management, the production efficiency of Schneider Electric's supply chain in China has increased year by year, with energy consumption reduced by 15.9% compared with 2019. "Accelerating the construction of innovation-driven digital productivity and green productivity has brought broader development space for many enterprises," Yin Zheng said.

At this year's Davos Forum, Pacini Sensing Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. exhibited the first "multi-dimensional tactile + AI vision" dual-modal bionic dexterous hand DexH13.

"This dexterous hand is equipped with 1,140 multi-dimensional tactile sensing units and an 8-megapixel high-definition hand-eye camera, which can perform high-difficulty and complex operations such as fragile item grabbing and precision assembly," said Xu Jincheng, CEO of Pacini Sensing Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. Multi-dimensional tactile perception allows robots to better interact with the physical world. Based on the large artificial intelligence model, the manipulator can also achieve autonomous learning and complete more types of interactive collaboration.

The virtual human intelligent interaction machine brought by iFLYTEK also attracted many guests to stop and experience it. Wang Danning, Marketing Manager of iFLYTEK Tianjin Company, introduced that combined with AI virtual human technology, the intelligent interaction machine can realize speech recognition, semantic understanding, and speech synthesis, allowing users to communicate "face-to-face" with virtual characters.

"Promoting the coordinated transformation of digitalization and greening with artificial intelligence is an important way to achieve sustainable development," said Gong Ke, the leading person of Chinese topic research at the Preparation Office of the 2025 Tianjin Summer Davos Forum.

New Technologies Lead New Growth

On the morning of the 24th, the forum released the top ten emerging technologies of 2025, reflecting emerging trends in four areas: trust and security, sustainable industries, human health, and energy-material integration.

"Even in the context of an increasingly complex global innovation environment, technological breakthroughs are still advancing rapidly," said Jeremy Jurgens, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum. "Through this research, global leaders can clearly understand which technologies are about to be put into application, how they will solve pressing problems worldwide, and what conditions need to be created to achieve the large-scale development of these technologies in a responsible manner."

Since 2007, the Summer Davos Forum has been held alternately in Dalian and Tianjin. Over the past 18 years, from revitalizing growth to promoting innovation, from the Fourth Industrial Revolution to entrepreneurship, the Summer Davos Forum has touched the pulse of the world economy and witnessed the latest achievements of the new technological revolution time and again.

"We believe that entrepreneurs, innovation, and technology will be the core of future growth," Brende said.

Bionic dexterous hands, virtual human intelligent interaction, holographic imaging... At the forum site, emerging technologies represented by artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and new material technologies attracted the attention of many participants.

Holographic images can be stereoscopically imaged in the air without a screen, and the aerial imaging content is synchronized in real-time on the large screen. Users can interact through gestures. Gao Zhenyuan, General Manager of Tianjin Hanhai Xingyun Digital Technology Co., Ltd., appeared with the company's holographic imaging intelligent empty display large screen interaction system.

"'Collaborative sensing' technology is among the newly released top ten emerging technologies. These cutting-edge fields and hot topics have given us new ideas and pointed out the direction for our future development," Gao Zhenyuan said. (Reporters: Yin Siyuan, Huang Jianglin)
