On September 23, at the 2025 New Power System Development (Chongli) Forum hosted by the China Electricity Council (CEEC), the "2024 China Green Power (Green Certificate) Consumption TOP 100 Enterprises List" (hereinafter referred to as the "TOP 100 List") was jointly released by CEEC, Beijing Power Exchange Center, Guangzhou Power Exchange Center, Inner Mongolia Power Exchange Center, and HydroChina Corporation.
Nearly 20 energy enterprises made the list, reflecting the high level of green power (green certificate) consumption among China's energy and power enterprises.
Specifically, the top 4 positions on the list were all occupied by energy enterprises; among the top 10, 7 were energy enterprises. National Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd. and State Power Investment Corporation maintained their top two positions from 2023, leading in green power (green certificate) consumption. Local energy enterprises Zhejiang Energy Group Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Energy Group Co., Ltd. jumped to the third and fourth positions respectively. China Petrochemical Corporation and China National Petroleum Corporation ranked eighth and ninth, while China Datang Corporation and State Grid Corporation of China secured the 14th and 17th positions.
In recent years, China's green power consumption scale has expanded rapidly, with enterprises showing increasing willingness to consume green power. From January to July 2025, the cumulative national green power consumption reached 597.7 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 42.69%, maintaining steady growth. Among this, green power transaction volume was 181.7 billion kilowatt-hours (up 42.10% year-on-year), and green certificate transactions totaled 416 million (corresponding to 416 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, a year-on-year increase of 42.96%).
Against this backdrop, the 2024 TOP 100 List continues to take green power certificates as the sole proof of green power consumption, including both green power transactions and green certificate transactions. Compiled based on the true and reliable 2024 green power consumption data of each enterprise, it features a comprehensive statistical scope and complete data, covering multiple industries such as energy, petrochemicals, steel, manufacturing, technology, and services.
Industry insiders believe that the release of the TOP 100 List fully demonstrates the outstanding contributions of enterprises across sectors to promoting the green transformation of energy consumption. It not only highlights the solid results of enterprises' green development and effectively stimulates market vitality for green consumption but also sets feasible models for the industrial chain through the green practices of leading enterprises, driving the whole society to practice green consumption and further promoting the in-depth implementation of green and low-carbon concepts.
It is understood that in the next step, the joint releasing units of the TOP 100 List will, in accordance with national requirements, fully solicit opinions and suggestions from all sectors of society, improve the release standards and formats of China's green power consumption, refine the release method of industry-specific lists, and strive to build the list into an internationally recognized brand logo for green consumption, providing solid support for China's energy green transformation and development.
