China’s Achievements in Green and Low-Carbon Energy Transition

Xin Baoan introduced China’s achievements in green and low-carbon energy transition. He noted that China has actively acted as a promoter, contributor, and leader in global energy transition and climate governance, having built the world’s largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system and the most comprehensive new energy industrial chain.
China’s installed clean energy capacity has increased from 520 million kilowatts in 2015 to 2.2 billion kilowatts currently, accounting for 59.5% of the total installed capacity. Over the past two years, China’s annual new installed new energy capacity has reached approximately 400 million kilowatts, accounting for more than 60% of the global increment, making it a green engine driving global energy transition.
China has put 45 UHV AC and DC projects into operation, with the highest voltage level reaching ±1,100 kilovolts, and the cross-provincial and inter-regional power transmission capacity exceeding 400 million kilowatts. It has also built the world’s largest new energy cloud platform, serving the efficient operation of over 6 million new energy stations.
Over the past five years, China has actively provided high-quality clean energy products to the world. The wind power and photovoltaic equipment produced during this period have helped relevant countries reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4.1 billion tons, making important contributions to global green and low-carbon development.

Addressing Asia-Pacific Energy Challenges Through Energy Interconnection

Xin Baoan stated that the Asia-Pacific region, with strong economic vitality, large energy demand, and rapid growth, is one of the most promising regions globally. However, it also faces challenges such as significant pressure on energy supply security, a high proportion of fossil energy, and unbalanced regional development.
Building a clean-dominated, electricity-centered, interconnected, intelligent, and efficient energy interconnection will inject strong momentum into promoting the safe, low-carbon, and inclusive development of energy in the Asia-Pacific. It will enhance the economy and reliability of clean energy power generation, accelerate the reliable substitution of clean energy, and promote in-depth substitution of fossil energy with green electricity and power-to-hydrogen in end-use energy sectors to raise the electrification level.
Additionally, it will strengthen power grid interconnection, drive the transformation and upgrading of power grids through digital and intelligent technologies, and accelerate the efficient allocation of clean energy.

Proposals for Asia-Pacific Energy Transition Cooperation

Xin Baoan emphasized that promoting energy transition and development in the Asia-Pacific region is crucial to the common interests of all countries. He proposed that all parties strengthen cooperation in interconnection, technology and industry, rules and standards, and energy governance to jointly create a green and low-carbon future for the Asia-Pacific region.
