On November 4, the 7th East Asia Summit Clean Energy Forum was held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province.

On November 4, the 7th East Asia Summit Clean Energy Forum was held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Co-hosted by the National Energy Administration of China, Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy and Water Transformation, and the People’s Government of Fujian Province, the two-day forum was themed “High-Level Interconnection for High-Quality Regional Development” and focused on implementing the consensus reached at the East Asia Summit leaders’ meetings.

He Yang, Vice Administrator of the National Energy Administration of China; Guo Ningning, Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee; Akmal Nasrullah, Deputy Minister of Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy and Water Transformation; and Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Mr. Akmal Nasrullah and Mr. Kao Kim Hourn addressed the forum via video.

He Yang’s Speech

He Yang reviewed the achievements of China-ASEAN cooperation in clean energy over the years and put forward initiatives for opening a new chapter in regional clean energy development. He noted that China and ASEAN are two of the world’s most dynamic and promising economies. China stands ready to work with ASEAN to follow the global development trends, join hands, and elevate cooperation in clean energy to new heights.

Forum Exchanges and Outcomes

During the forum, representatives from energy authorities of China and ASEAN countries, local government officials, executives from energy and power enterprises, experts from banks and financial institutions, and think tank scholars conducted in-depth discussions.
For the first time, the China-ASEAN Energy Cooperation Ministerial Closed-Door Meeting was held, releasing a series of outcomes including “High-Level Power Interconnection Supporting Regional Development — Cross-Border Absorption of Renewable Energy in ASEAN.”
He Yang also held separate meetings with Cambodia’s Minister of Mines and Energy, Keo Rattanak, and Brunei’s Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw.

Participants

Lu Junling, Chief Economist of the National Energy Administration, along with relevant department heads, and officials from the Fujian Provincial People’s Government and Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government, also participated in the forum activities.
