On the morning of January 6, Chen Mei, Vice Chairwoman of the China Association of Electrical Engineering (CAEE), met with a delegation led by Bob Cryan, Honorary President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK.

On the morning of January 6, Chen Mei, Vice Chairwoman of the China Association of Electrical Engineering (CAEE), met with a delegation led by Bob Cryan, Honorary President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK. Toni Allen, Secretary-General of Global Operations and Growth of the IET, Chris Kinbb, Director of Government and External Affairs of the IET, and Zhao Jianjun, Deputy Secretary-General of the CAEE, attended the meeting.

Chen Mei extended a warm welcome to Bob Cryan and his delegation. She first introduced the basic situation and development goals of the CAEE, stating that the society is accelerating the construction of a world-class association that is "leading, service-oriented, international, and innovative." This goal requires a comprehensive enhancement of academic exchanges, international cooperation, scientific and technological awards, science popularization, standard formulation, journal publishing, scientific and technological consulting and services, to make greater contributions to serving members, the development of the energy and power industry, and national scientific and technological innovation.
The CAEE has established a long-term and friendly cooperative relationship with the IET. The two sides have carried out extensive and multi-level cooperation in international conferences, journal publishing, engineer certification, and continuing professional development. Chen Mei expressed the hope that the two sides will further deepen their cooperation in the future and explore new cooperation areas such as journal publishing, digital libraries, and video courses.
Bob Cryan thanked Chen Mei for her welcome and introduction. He noted that the CAEE is an important partner of the IET, and the IET highly values its friendly cooperation with the CAEE. He was pleased to lead the IET team to visit the CAEE at the beginning of 2026. He hoped that the two sides would continue to achieve new cooperation results on the basis of their good past cooperation.
Toni Allen introduced the key activities the IET plans to launch in 2026 and expressed the hope for continued support from the CAEE in conference activities, engineer certification, and member exchanges. Chris Kinbb shared the situation of the IET volunteer team and the preliminary ideas for the IET's future operations in China, looking forward to more in-depth exchange of experiences and sharing of resources between the two sides.
The two sides also exchanged views on topics such as the dissemination and sharing of video course resources, and the nomination and recommendation of Fellows and Honorary Fellows.
