To help staff fully grasp the latest policy developments and core requirements of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the China Electricity Council (CEC) hosted a special lecture themed Progress, Impacts of EU CBAM and China’s Response Strategies on May 19.
To help staff fully grasp the latest policy developments and core requirements of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the China Electricity Council (CEC) hosted a special lecture themed Progress, Impacts of EU CBAM and China’s Response Strategies on May 19. Duan Maosheng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy at Tsinghua University, delivered the keynote speech. Shen Weichun, Deputy Secretary-General of CEC, attended the on-site training session.
Duan Maosheng reviewed the background and legislative process of the EU CBAM, its coverage scope and operational mechanisms, sorted out the latest policy updates, and analyzed its impacts on China’s energy and power sectors as well as foreign trade. He elaborated on countermeasures and practical pathways for the low-carbon transition of relevant industries under international carbon rules, and exchanged views on related issues with participating staff.
The lecture featured comprehensive content and clear insights, offering professional guidance for CEC staff to understand international carbon policies and conduct research on CBAM and corresponding response strategies. Adopting a hybrid offline-online format, the training attracted more than 110 employees from all departments and affiliated institutions of CEC.
